Assistant / Graduate Cost Manager

Full time | North-East | £20,000 – £30,000 per annum.

About the role

Due to continued growth, SRC is seeking a Graduate / Assistant Cost Manager to join the team. The role will be based in our Stockton-on-Tees or Newcastle office, though you may be required to occasionally visit sites across the UK, therefore a full, clean driving licence is essential. The role is being offered on a permanent basis to an individual who is driven, ambitious and looking to take that next step in their career. The role

  • Providing support on project cost forecasting and monitoring in line with budgets
  • Obtaining prices for materials and services
  • Agree valuations / variations / final accounts
  • Attending site visits and project process meetings
  • Liaising with clients and maintaining a strong rapport
  • Review procurement methods and contracts
  • Co-ordination, production and follow up of tenders
  • General administration
  • Reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Working closely with other members of the team

Skills, knowledge and relevant qualifications

  • Have or working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of JCT and NEC forms of contract would be beneficial
  • Good knowledge of MS office suite
  • Confident to work independently with the support of a team
  • Be organised and have an ability to work across multiple projects
  • Ensure that clients receive quality work and value for money
  • Have the ability to work locally, as well as further afield if required
  • Want to be part of a small team, which has opportunities for development
  • Be proactive, enthusiastic, and excellent communicator, and keen to develop skills
  • Support the SRCPM Director and other members of the team
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required
  • You should have experience of measurement activities utilising NRM and CESMM

Other requirements

  • Willing to undertake relevant security clearance checks, and inductions as required by our clients (DBS etc)
  • All staff must have a Driving Licence and the ability to drive to projects, although sustainable travel and the use of Teams is encouraged to help the carbon footprint of the work of SRC
